Local Priorities

We are responding to community concerns linked to drug and alcohol related anti social behaviour in the ward. Over the last month we are aware of reports of drug dealing taking place from residential properties in and around the Fraser Street and London Road areas.

Issued: 1 Apr 2026

Status Update

We are working closely with our partners as part of a coordinated multi agency response to this issue, including Housing Associations, the Local Authority, and a local hostel within the area. This partnership approach is aimed at minimising the impact of anti social behaviour linked to both residents and visitors to the location, while ensuring appropriate support is available to those involved.
Officers have been actively engaging with the public while out on patrol, speaking with residents, business owners, and community leaders to better understand local concerns and gather information and intelligence. A number of proactive operations have also been carried out in the area, with officers deployed in both plain clothes and high visibility patrols to provide reassurance and disrupt criminal activity.
We are aware that some local retailers have been targeted by individuals attempting to fund their addictions. In response, we have secured funding for a Safer Pod, which has been placed in stores that have been repeatedly affected. This deployment has proven effective in reducing offending by acting as a visible deterrent.
Alongside enforcement activity, we have supported engagement with a local art project designed to encourage individuals experiencing addiction to engage positively with key support agencies. This approach aims to address the underlying causes of offending behaviour and promote longer term positive outcomes.
Feedback from members of the public, residents, and community leaders remains vital in helping officers identify those responsible. The team continues to work closely with partners, schools, and local organisations to take positive action, respond effectively to crime reports, and gather intelligence. This work supports our aim of using appropriate legislation to tackle offending behaviour and, where necessary, restrict the presence of individuals responsible in the area.
If you have information about where drug dealing is taking place, you can report it anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or by using the following link:
https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/pre-form
Members of the public are encouraged to report all incidents via 101, or 999 in an emergency. Reports can also be made online or in person at your local General Enquiry Office at Admiral Street Police Station or St Anne Street Police Station.
