Terms of Service

These terms govern your access to and use of the CrimeTrends platform. By accessing the site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these provisions in their entirety.

01 Acceptance of Terms

The CrimeTrends Project ("the Platform," "the Project," "we," "us") provides a data-intelligence service located at crimetrends.co.uk. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must immediately cease all use of the Platform.

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this Platform. By using CrimeTrends, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.


02 Intellectual Property & Licensing

Limited License

We grant you a non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable, limited license to access the Platform solely for personal, non-commercial, and informational purposes. This license does not include any resale or commercial use of the Platform or its contents.

Restrictions

You explicitly agree not to:

  • Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, or otherwise exploit the Platform for any commercial purpose without express written consent.
  • Use any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools.
  • Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or disassemble any software used by the Platform.
  • Use the Platform in any way that causes, or may cause, damage to the Platform or impairment of the availability or accessibility of the data.

03 Data Accuracy & Disclaimers

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Platform aggregates data from various public sources including Police.uk and the ONS. While we strive for algorithmic accuracy, we do not warrant the completeness, reliability, or absolute accuracy of the data provided. Crime intelligence is historical and subject to reporting lags from individual police forces.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.


04 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The CrimeTrends Project shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Platform.


05 Third-Party Services

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as Google Ads or external data sources) that are not owned or controlled by us. We assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.


06 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
