This is an ongoing issue for Bournville where local businesses reporting business crime (shop thefts) in Cotteridge alongside people (potentially homeless) loitering outside the shops leaving rubbish..

Issued: 8 May 2026

Status Update

The local team are proactive in patrolling in the shopping area as often as they can be. We are still working with our partners in Birmingham City Councils community safety team in the area. They have been issuing community protection notices to those people found to be repeat offenders in the area - which has had a positive impact on the numbers of people loitering. we will continue with this positive work as well as making referrals to Street Link.

We will continue to investigate any theft from shops, by working with retail management to identify offenders and arresting those responsible for the crime.

If you have any information on who is committing the thefts - or where the goods are being taken too, then please get in touch with one of the team or anonymously to crimestoppers. We would like to prevent the offending and will need the communities help and support.
