OFF ROAD MOTORCYCLES
Issued: 5 Mar 2026
Status Update
We are aware of a number of ongoing concerns with regards to the use of Off Road Motorcycles.
The team have been conducting patrols in various wards across our area to target this problem and provide reassurance.
We have also developed solid working relationships with our SYP colleagues in the Motorcycle and Rural Crime Team (MaRCT) who have been in and around the Rotherham South area, themselves conducting patrols, engaging with land owners and taking proactive actions to seize vehicles being used in an anti-social manner. We have experienced a recent success in the identification and subsequent recovery of stolen bikes and other vehicles with offenders identified and being summonsed to Court.
Recently we have refreshed visits to garage forecourts to gather intelligence and request that premises do not provide the fuel. You may have also seen other leaflets requesting information about who owns these bikes and where they are kept. Please keep reporting this information via 101 or Crimestoppers.
We have forged good links with landowners to try and prevent land being used in the first place. This work continues and now links into our Rural Crime meetings, where we hold regular public meetings on this issue and also work closely with partners from the Council, Environment Agency, Fire Service, RSPCA to name a few.
Smaller operations in recent weeks have seen further quad bikes seized in North Anston, Maltby and Kiveton Park.
Anyone found with or using off road bikes unlawfully will be engaged with. They may have the bikes taken from them. We are working with partners at RMBC to look at tenancy enforcement should this behaviour be a breach of a tenancy agreement.
Please continue to report activity and more importantly report who owns these bikes and where they keep them so what can continue to focus our activity.
