Drug dealing and anti-social behaviour

Location:
Charminster Road, to include the service Road behind the shops and Iddesleigh Road.

Issue:
Shoplifting offences, drug dealing, drug use and associated anti-social behaviour, leading to members of the public and local businesses feeling unsafe.

Planned action to tackle this issue:
• Multi-agency work as part of a holistic response
• Neighbourhood officers will regularly patrol the area and deal with offenders robustly

Status Update

June Update:
- Dorset Police and BCP Council have been working with Charminster businesses to reduce shoplifting and to deter organised crime. NPT have conducted extra high-visibility foot patrols and community engagement in the area following the recent incident.

May Update:
- Dorset Police have arrested someone on suspicion of Possession With Intent To Supply both class A and Class B drugs, on Charminster Road. They have been released on bail whilst further enquiries are completed.

April Update:
- NPT completed High-visibility foot patrols within the Charminster Road area
- NPT have worked with BCP Council ASB team to address ASB being committed by the most prolific offenders
- NPT have held a Community Contact Point to provide reassurance to the local community
- NPT have arrested multiple persons for offences linked to acquisitive/business crime/drugs offences
- NPT are supporting an initiative to strengthen business community relations and crime prevention to prevent shoplifting in the area.

March Update:
- NPT completed over 34 separate High-visibility foot patrols within the Charminster Road area – 43 minutes average length
- NPT have worked with BCP Council ASB team to address ASB being committed by the most prolific offenders
- NPT have worked with immigration to complete compliance visits within the Charminster area
- NPT have held a Community Contact Point outside of Tesco, Charminster Road to provide reassurance to the local community
- NPT have arrested multiple persons for offences linked to acquisitive/business crime/drugs offences

February update:
- NPT completed over 20 separate High-visibility foot patrols within the Winton High Street area
- NPT have worked with BCP Council ASB team to address ASB being committed with two of our most prolific offenders

Anti-social behaviour

Location:
Winton High Street, Wimborne Road.

Issue:
Shoplifting offences, street drinking and gatherings causing alarm to members of the public.

Planned action to tackle this issue:
• Neighbourhood officers will regularly patrol the area and deal with offenders robustly
• The Neighbourhood Policing Team will work closely with the local authority’s anti-social behaviour team regarding enforcement action.

Status Update

June Update:
- Dorset Police shoplifting team have summonsed multiple prolific shoplifters for repeated thefts to ensure swift justice for local businesses. NPT are working to obtain Criminal Behaviour Orders for our most prolific shoplifters to exclude them for shops and prevent re-offending.

May Update:
- The Neighbourhood Policing Team have arrested prolific shoplifting offenders. This has included x2 in the same day! One of these was caught red handed by our officers who were on patrol in Winton High Street. The offender was taken into police custody, interviewed and charged. They now await their court date!

April Update:
- NPT completed High-visibility foot patrols within the Winton area
- NPT have held a Community Contact Point to provide reassurance to the local community
- NPT have issued dispersal notices to persons causing anti-social behaviour along Winton High Street
- NPT have assisted with a Prison Recall and shoplifting prosecution of two known prolific offenders

March Update:
- NPT completed over 20 separate High-visibility foot patrols within the Winton area – 47 mins average length
- NPT have held a Community Contact Point outside of Waitrose, Wimborne Road to provide reassurance to the local community
- NPT have issued dispersal notices to persons causing anti-social behaviour along Winton High Street

February update:
- NPT completed over 20 separate High-visibility foot patrols within the Charminster area
- On Sunday 1st February, NPT, Police Cadets and local Councillors completed a Community Clean Up in Charminster Cemetery and the Richmond Arms public house car park, collecting and disposing of 15 large bags of rubbish
- Dorset Police made multiple arrests in the Charminster area linked to drug supply
