Issued: 1 Apr 2026

Status Update

May/June 2026 Update
We continue to proactively target identified shop lifters and are working closely with the stores to improve communication and common working practises in order to improve detection of offenders , deter them from offending and keep the community safe

Police will work with retailers that are persistently targeted to identify vulnerable stores and provide crime prevention advise.
We will target repeat and prolific offenders and bring them to justice as soon as we can. We particularly want to arrest and bring to justice those offenders who threaten violence against shop staff.
