Local Priorities

Lower Valley Ward Areas : Brighouse, Hipperholme and Lightcliffe, Northowram, Greetland and Stainland, Elland and Rastrick. 

  1. Anti-Social Behaviour - Elland
    We will do this through a partnership approach to increased awareness of anti-social behaviour reporting methods, identify repeat victims and perpetrators of anti-social behaviour, and educate young people of the impact of ASB. We will adopt a problem-solving approach to locations/victims and perpetrators of ASB to prevent escalation and repeat. We will work with housing providers and support services to ensure all appropriate safeguarding and support is in place.  
     
  2. Road safety across the Lower Valley with a particular focus in Hipperholme and Lightcliffe
    We will do this through targeted Road Safety work deployments, working with partners to inform & educate communities and enforce road safety legislation. This will include SID and Pro-Laser deployments, and proactive work to identify and prosecute unsafe use of the road network.
     
  3. Responding to community concerns about HGV impact from Quarries on local road
    We will do this through a partnership approach, working with the community Safety Partnership, Planning and enforcement teams to ensure roads around local quarries are safe for pedestrian and vehicle use.

Upper Valley Ward Areas : Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge, Todmorden, Mytholmroyd and Ryburn.

Anti-Social Behaviour (Fly-Tipping & ASB) Focus on Luddenden Foot carparks
We will do this through a partnership approach to increase patrols and partnership visibility at these locations. We will take robust action against those committing vehicle related ASB, or fly-tipping including partnership work with Calderdale Council for Public Space Protection Order enforcement.

Road Safety – Focus on Pecket Well (Poor visibility corner)
We will do this through partnership enforcement and education of safe driving and parking practices.

We will do this through a partnership approach to increase awareness of anti-social behaviour reporting methods, identify repeat victims and perpetrators of anti-social behaviour, and educate young people of the impact of ASB. 15 vehicles checked.

1 x Traffic offence report issued to a driver for doing 32mph in 20mph zone

1 x Fail to stop for PC when requested and exceed 20mph (33mph) in 20mph zone
 

15/02/2026 

3140 and CO759 - Speed checks on Badger Lane, Blackshaw Head following further complaints from residents following the road closure.  20 vehicles checked. 

4 x Traffic offence reports issue:

1 x for 30mph/ 1x for 32mph and 1x for 34mph in a 20mph zone. A further Traffic offence report was issued to a driver for driving a vehicle not displaying a front registration plate. 


14/02/2026:

Parking checks conducted on Burnley road, Hebden Bridge and 8 Fixed penelty notices were issued for Wilful Obstruction/contravene solid white line.
 

13/02/2026:

3140 and CO759 reports:

Council staff advised they had located a moped and a eBike.

The moped was confirmed stolen,and the owner collected this from Todmorden Police Station.

The eBike was taken to Todmorden (no thefts of pedal bikes showing) and Stoneywood recovered the bike.
 

11/02/2026 - Road Safety - Calder

PC 4347 and 2982 conducted speed checks in the centre of Blackshawhead. All vehicles checked in order.

1 x Words of Advice for a headlight out.
 

09/02/2026:

Speed checks conducted on Badger Lane

A car was travelling at 33MPH in a 20MPH x1 Traffic offence report was issued for the excessive speed
 

08/02/2026:

PCSO 759 and  PC 3140 conducted speed checks in both Upper and Mid Valley.

Oldham Road, Rishworth (30MPH)
Approximately 35 vehicles checked, all drivers adhering to the limit of 30MPH

Cragg Road, Mytholmroyd (30MPH)
Approximately 18 vehicles checked, Majority of drivers were driving to the speed limit of 30MPH
x1 driver given Traffic offence report for driving 43MPH in a 30MPH

Burnley Road, Todmorden (20MPH)
Approximately 21 vehicles checked, Majority of drivers were driving to the road speed limit of 20MPH
x1 driver given a Traffic offence report for driving 31MPH in a 20MPH
 

05/02/2026:

Traffic operation in Todmorden. Halifax Road junction Shaw Wood Road (30mph to 40mph). Burnley Road by the Roebuck pub (50mph to 30mph).

Speed gun deployment.
Very low levels of traffic due to snowy weather.

1x Fixed penalty notice issued on Rochdale Road, Ripponden for obstruction

Road is regularly complained about re bad parking/ obstructions at ward forums and contact points.

West Yorkshire Police Roadshow

West Yorkshire Police will be hosting a community roadshow on 7 June, offering the public an opportunity to meet officers, explore policing roles, and view a range of operational equipment and vehicles.

The event will include displays from several specialist departments, including Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT), Specialist Operations / SSG, and Police Motorcycles. Officers will be available throughout the day to speak with attendees about their work and answer questions about policing in West Yorkshire.

Local voluntary organisations will also be present, including the 51st Pellon Scouts and CrimeStoppers, providing further information on community support and crime prevention initiatives.

The roadshow aims to strengthen community engagement and provide insight into the varied roles within West Yorkshire Police.

People's Park Festival

The annual People’s Park Festival will take place on Saturday, 02 August 2026, at People’s Park, Park Road, Halifax.
