Local Priorities

Although residential burglary is decreasing in our neighbourhoods, we understand it remains a concern for many residents.

Issued: 5 May 2026

Status Update

Reducing residential burglary remains a key priority for our officers. We regularly share crime prevention advice and keep the Purleigh residents informed about emerging trends, helping them take practical steps to protect their homes.

The impact of burglary is not just financial, it can significantly affect emotional wellbeing and a person’s sense of security. We understand the importance of tackling this crime and supporting victims throughout the process.

In the event of a burglary, we remain committed to responding swiftly to reports and conducting thorough investigations. Our officers will continue to patrol neighbourhoods to deter criminal activity and provide visible reassurance to the community.

Anti-social behaviour remains a key concern in our neighbourhoods.

Issued: 5 May 2026

Status Update

Although anti-social behaviour (ASB) is decreasing, it remains a key concern for residents in the Maldon District.
Anti-social behaviour (ASB) can have a serious impact on community life, causing fear, anxiety, and isolation, affecting mental health and disrupting daily routines. Our Neighbourhood Policing Team works closely with partners, including the Maldon District Council, to address ASB in all its forms.
We focus on identifying emerging trends and sharing practical advice with residents to help protect them from its effects and ensure they know how best to report incidents. By working together with our partners and the community, we aim to reduce ASB and create safer, stronger neighbourhoods for everyone.

Actioned: 5 May 2026

Local residents have told us that speeding and anti-social driving remain key concerns in the community. This is entirely understandable, especially given the disproportionately high number of serious and fatal collisions that have occurred in the area.

Issued: 5 May 2026

Status Update

We have carried out speed checks in areas where residents have raised concerns about fast drivers. These checks not only help us identify and deal with those who are speeding, but they also serve as an important reminder for all motorists to consider how they drive. By encouraging safer driving habits, we aim to make our roads safer for everyone.

Through partnership work, education, enforcement, and community engagement events in Purleigh and the surrounding areas, we strive to reduce speeding and prevent accidents, ensuring that everyone can travel safely across our district.
