Local Priorities

E-scooter and high-powered electric cycles on the Ward continue to blight the community.

This is a concern that is constantly raised by members of the community, despite high-profile guidance around the use of such vehicles in public places.

Issued: 1 Apr 2026

Status Update

A proactive and dedicated operation, Operation Pedalfast has been continuously run by the Beat team with support from the Special Constabulary and will be continued for the foreseeable future.

Despite increased social media reports and broadcasts on other channels, the issue surrounding illegal use of e-scooters and high-powered modified e-bikes continues.

A number of operations have been conducted over the last three months which has resulted in a further 21 E-Bikes and 36 E-Scooters seized on the beat and wider NPA.

We are currently addressing concerns regarding a noticeable increase in reports of shop theft from retailers across the beat

Issued: 1 Apr 2026

Status Update

Our focus in the coming months on working closely with local businesses to prevent further offences, identify repeat offenders, and ensure robust enforcement action is taken.

High-visibility patrols and targeted operations have been conducted by the beat team and the Safer Streets Team.

Over the last month officers have arrested a number of individuals identified in retail theft which has included positive outcomes and Criminal Behaviour Orders issued by the courts. Further individuals have been identified and proactive arrest attempts are continuing.

Actioned: 1 May 2026

Concerns have been raised regarding an increase in vehicle crime across the beat, including theft from motor vehicles, theft of number plates, and vehicle interference. There has been a marked increase of these reports along with neighbouring beats.

Issued: 1 Apr 2026

Status Update

Local officers and Safer Streets Team are taking the lead regarding this priority. Actions to be taken include conducting targeted patrols in identified hotspots including plain clothes and high visibility, provide crime‑prevention advice to residents, and work with partner agencies to promote the use of anti‑theft measures. We will also review CCTV opportunities, engage with local garages and retailers regarding number plate security, and act promptly on any intelligence received to identify and deter offenders.

April update officers have identified individuals in relation to offences and arrests have been conducted. Enquiries are continuing in these matters. Positive action taken by officers has seen a marked decrease in the last month.
