Local Priorities
We are working hard to reduce anti social behaviour across the district and to prevent it from becoming a long term issue.
Issued: 5 May 2026
Status Update
Our focus includes high street areas where there have been ongoing concerns about youth related anti social behaviour and associated disorder.
Our approach includes:
Reducing youth related anti social behaviour in town centres.
Maintaining a highly visible uniformed presence to deter criminality.
Targeting repeat offenders while reassuring residents and businesses.
Looking ahead, officers will continue to patrol towns and open spaces using local intelligence to ensure resources are focused where they are needed most.
We are also strengthening our work with partner agencies to better support victims and prevent anti social behaviour from escalating into more serious offences.
Together, we are building safer, stronger communities.
Actioned: 5 May 2026
We have been listening to your concerns and are taking action to reduce motor vehicle theft across the district.
Issued: 5 May 2026
Status Update
To address this, we are:
Deploying high visibility uniformed and plain clothed patrols in areas most affected by vehicle crime.
Targeting repeat offenders and organised groups involved in vehicle theft.
Using stop and search powers, arrests, and bail checks where appropriate to disrupt offending and prevent repeat crimes.
Actively locating and recovering stolen vehicles and identifying locations used to store or dismantle them.
We are also working closely with residents, businesses, and visitors to provide crime prevention advice and promote practical steps such as using steering locks, secure parking, and vehicle trackers.
By combining visible policing, targeted enforcement, and regular communication about our results, we aim to reassure the public that vehicle crime is being taken seriously and actively addressed.
Together, we are building safer streets, protecting property, and strengthening confidence across Southend.
Actioned: 5 May 2026
We’ve been listening to our residents and understand the growing concern around the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters across our district.
Issued: 5 May 2026
Status Update
In response, we have launched targeted operations to tackle this issue head-on.
These operations focus on the use of e-scooters and modified e-bikes in the district, specifically high powered Surron style devices.
Our key objectives are:
Identifying and stopping illegally modified or non-compliant e bikes and e scooters.
Targeting offenders using them for vehicle-related crime, theft, anti-social behaviour, and drug supply.
Improving public safety by addressing dangerous riding in pedestrian areas and along the seafront.
Reducing community tension linked to persistent nuisance riders.
Officers will continue to be out in the community, combining enforcement with education.
By speaking directly with riders and owners, we aim to raise awareness of the law, prevent further misuse, and encourage responsible behaviour.
We’re committed to ensuring our public spaces remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.
