Local Priorities
Priorities:
1 - ASB in town centre locations
2 - Theft of bikes & motorbikes
3 - Shop theft
Priority Period:
April to June 2026
How priorities are chosen:
The priorities for the Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Team is reviewed every 3 months in a Multi-Agency meeting attended by local authorities, problem solving specialists, and neighbourhood policing teams.
The meeting looks at the data from crime recording and intelligence systems held by the police, as well as data from the Nottinghamshire Police Crime Commissioners Office and responses to the ‘What Matters’ survey submitted to the police via the Notts Alert system, in order to determine which matters are important to our communities.
The priorities selected do not detract from other priorities either locally or across the force.
Why these priorities have been chosen:
1 - ASB in town centres
Whilst ASB is down around 20% in the last year, recent incidents in town centres involving disorder and ASB have been noted, specifically in the early evenings, and over weekends.
2 – Theft of bikes & motorbikes
Whilst numbers are not significantly high, there is a persistent group of offenders in the region targeting bikes & motorbikes which requires our attention and focus, as these thefts can have a big impact on the victim.
3 – Shop Theft
Shop theft makes up the single most time consuming draw on resources for the Neighbourhood Police Team in terms of investigation and time dealing with prisoners. Whilst we have had successes in reducing shop theft year on year, this crime is still a key target for us.
How you can have your voice heard:
You can take part in the NottsAlert “What Matters” survey.
You can report incidents by calling 999 or 101 as well as via our website.
You can also provide intelligence anonymously via Crimestoppers.

Status Update
1 – ASB in town centres
We will increase the number of beat surgeries in areas impacted, seek to identify those involved in disorder or ASB incidents, and work with partner agencies and organisations to divert young people away from disruptive behaviour, or where necessary, take enforcement action.
2 – Theft of bikes & motorbikes
We will put in place a Problem Management Plan to reduce the likelihood of such offences occurring in the hot spot areas. We will work with the schools, parks and premises impacted, as well as the Prevention Hub to look at ways of target hardening. We will hold bespoke bike marking events and seek to design out crime in conjunction with our partners. Where offenders have been identified, arrests and searches will be made, and where bail conditions are in place, robust checks to be carried out, and where breaches occur, further arrests can be made
3 – Shop theft
Locate, arrest, and charge key offenders who conduct theft offences against retail premises. Utilise CCTV and high vis patrols, as well as plain clothes patrols at peak times to identify and arrest suspects, and utilise Criminal Behaviour Orders on conviction. Where appropriate for first time offenders, utilise Immediate Justice referrals. We will also seek to increase the number of beat surgeries in the areas most impacted by shop theft.
