Local Priorities

Theft and shoplifting.

Status Update

Local policing teams are using Community Behaviour Orders (CBO) alongside prosecuting for theft and associated offences in order to tackle offending behaviour. In recent months, successful investigations have resulted in prolific shoplifters receiving custodial sentences as a result of local investigations into shoplifting. Investigations continue and further applications for CBOs will be made to deal with prolific offending.

Nuisance motorcycles and off-road bikes.

Status Update

Working with partners such as housing, we are collating details of bikes and descriptions of offenders. Through the use of CCTV, drones and fixed wing aircraft in conjunction with our road crime officers to track and locate offending bikes and offenders, a number of vehicle seizures and prosecutions have been made. We are continuing to use anti-social behaviour legislation to seize and destroy bikes as well as issuing Community Protection Warnings/Notices to tackle repeat offenders. This work is ongoing.

Boy Racers and Car Cruising

Status Update

Regular Operations by the Road Crime Team targeting vehicles for speeding, anti social behaviour and any breaches of Public Space Protection Orders. This is supplemented by dedicated officers at peak times to proactively police and deter vehicles from Car Cruising. Vehicles to be seized and fines issues where offences identified. CCTV used to retrospectively identify and prosecute any offences identified. Joint working with neighbouring forces to co-ordinate response to car cruising and associated ASB.

Status Update

Both High Visibility and Plain clothes officers operate in the area to both deter offenders and take proactive measures to stop and search. Members of the public are encouraged to report any activity or signs of drug use or supply. This can be done anonymously through 'Crimestoppers-uk.org' 0800 555111. Intelligence to be collected and developed with a view to disrupting drug supply and prosecution of offenders. This will be done through drugs warrants, stop search powers and closure orders amongst other positive action towards those identified as being involved in drug use and supply.
