Overnight Vehicle Crime

Issued: 27 Feb 2026

Status Update

The Neighbourhood Policing team together with the Neighbourhood Support Team and High Impact Team continue to tackle this issue through analysing the crimes, crime prevention advice and proactively targeting known and identified offenders. A series of excellent arrests of target offenders at the end of 2025 saw significant reductions in offending. There have been further noteable arrests and prosecutions of target offenders during the first half of 2026 that have seen some receive custodial sentences. However, there are other opportunist criminals that go around trying car doors which are often left insecure and which account for over 90% of reported vehicle crime. We encourage all residents not to store valuables in vehicles and double check your vehicle is locked.
