Drug Crime in the area of Howard Street

Status Update

The NHPT have listened to community concerns regarding drug crime occurring in and around the location.

In response to these concerns, the NHPT have increased patrols in the area and completed houses to house to reassure the community and gather information about the issues raised.

Targeted operations have been completed and will continue in this area to prevent and disrupt crime and bring any identified offenders to justice.

Update - During a planned operation in this area and another identified area of concern in Cowley, the team have stopped an individual using a rented bike. After initially failing to stop for Police, they were pursued and when stopped has been found to be in possession of large quantities of drugs. The individual has been charged and remanded into custody and awaits a further court date in 2026.

Update - During targeted patrols in this area, a further individual has been arrested in this area for drug supply offences after a pursuit with Police.

Vehicle related ASB in and around Southfield Park

Status Update

The Neighbourhood team are aware of community concerns about ASB in this area. This consists of vehicles being used in an anti-social manner in the area such as speeding, riding on pavements and excessive engine noise. From enquiries and Police action, multiple motorcycles/Mopeds have been located discarded in this area, having been driven by offenders in an anti-social manner. Some of these vehicles were identified as stolen.

The team have commenced work to deal with this issue and will ensure patrols are increased as well as targeted Police operations and action.

Vehicle related ASB - Cowley Road

Status Update

The community have highlighted at recent 'Have Your Say' events that ASB on Cowley Road is a community concern. The majority of reports suggest that vehicle related ASB was the biggest issue and gave examples of engine noise (from revving) and vehicles driving erratically and as such, dangerously.

The team have listened to these concerns and are planning joint work with partner agencies such as environmental health teams and traffic departments.
