Local Priorities

We are responding to community concerns linked to drug activity in several areas of the ward. Over the last month we are aware of reports of drug dealing taking place from residential properties in the northern end of the ward towards Crown Street.

Issued: 1 May 2026

Status Update

We are working closely with partner organisations, including Housing Associations, as part of a joint approach to deal with this issue.
Officers regularly patrol the area and speak with residents, business owners, and community leaders. This helps us understand local concerns, deal with issues, and gather important information.
We have carried out several proactive operations, with officers working in both plain clothes and high-visibility patrols.
Information from the public, residents, and community representatives is very important in helping us identify the people involved.
Our team continues to work with partner agencies, schools, and local organisations to take positive action, respond firmly to crime, and build intelligence. This allows us to use the right legal powers to tackle offending and reduce the presence of those causing problems in the area.
We encourage residents and businesses to report all anti-social behaviour. This helps us consider using Community Protection Notices to prevent behaviour that harms the local community. We rely on the public to report incidents and share concerns so we can act effectively.
If you have information about drug dealing, you can report it anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or using this link:
https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/pre-form
You can report incidents by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. You can also report online or visit your local enquiry office at Admiral Street Police Station or St Anne Street Police Station.
