Local Priorities

You Said - Road Safety has been brought forward in many villages which include but not limited to Welton, Kirkbride, Caldbeck and Dalston.

Issued: 2 Mar 2026

Status Update

We Did - Through information received from our PACT surveys speeding around rural villages has been highlighted as a concern. We will work with partner agencies where required to support improvement to the highway but will also target speeding motorists and look to prosecute where appropriate. This will be balanced with social media campaigns to promote safer driving. We are also now working with local parish councils to tackle the issue.

Our latest PACT survey for the area has highlighted a number of areas which we will be proactively targeting.

We are also working with a number of parish councils to support the longer term problem solving around the issue.

Officers have recently met with representatives of the parish council around the use of new technology and have also been in liaison with Cumberland Council around the review of speed limits in certain areas.
