Retail Crime and Theft in Thame Town Centre

Issued: 8 Apr 2026

Status Update

After a long wait the team have re-launched Shop Watch in Thame town centre. Along with colleagues from the Town Council and the Community Partnership the scheme is up and running and provides live time access to the council CCTV operators and police colleagues. We will be visiting stores and drumming up support for the system in the coming weeks as well as promoting the PCC's DISC system.

We continue to combat retail criminals who travel in from other areas and have seen charges brought against prolific offenders in the past weeks and months. One offender who has committed three offences has been arrested and a decision will be made regarding charges in the near future.

Neighbourhood Crime (Theft from Motor Vehicles)

Issued: 8 Apr 2026

Status Update

The team have been working on what is now a 26 strong crime series committed by offenders from out of force area. Junction 8A of the M40 has shared offences with similar in Newport Pagnall whereby a jammer has been used leading to members of the public leaving their vehicles unlocked, thinking they had been secured. Valuable goods have then been stolen.

PC Eldridge made an arrest that has led a reduction of offending whilst the suspect remains on bail. He continues to work on this case with detective colleagues.

We also made an arrest after a series of theft from motor vehicle offences in the outlying villages. Again, this has led to a vast reduction in that type of crime being committed.

Anti-Social Behaviour in Thame Town Centre

Issued: 8 Apr 2026

Status Update

Anti-social behaviour continues to drop in the Thame sector, however a few priorities linked to ASB have been flagged to the team. We are looking into a spate of anti-social use of off-road motorbikes and quad bikes as well as the issue around begging in Greyhound Walk. Begging was combatted last year with the issuing of Community Protection Warnings and we will look to do the same once repeated offenders are identified.
