Status Update
Police and Council teams carry out regular joint patrols in hotspot areas. We’re using a full range of legal and civil powers to tackle disorder, alongside joint family visits and Youth Justice support. The Local Authority continues targeted diversion and engagement at peak times.

Status Update
We’ve improved shop-theft protocols, increased resources, and targeted prolific offenders resulting in Community Behaviour Orders and over 10 years of custodial sentences since October 2024. Retail crime has fallen across Jarrow and Hebburn, with a focused plan at Morrisons (Viking Centre) achieving a 70% reduction in one month. Strong partnership work and targeting repeat offenders are also helping to disrupt wider criminality.

Other EventJoin us for a family friendly bird watching experience in Hebburn Riverside Park! Michael Turner, a renowned local ornithologist, will guide us through the park to spot some of our beautiful birds in their natural habitat. May is a great time for bird watching as the birds are busy and both resident and summer visitors can be seen and heard. From woodpeckers and jays in the parkland to ducks and waders on the river, Michael will show you how to identify birds by sight and sound and share tales of their extraordinary lives.
During the experience you will be introduced to the birds making each call, discovering the names, intriguing behaviours and amazing Summer activity of all the birds in our riverside park.
This event is part of the Nature Discovery Festival organised by the Friends of Hebburn Riverside Park.
