Local Priorities

Antisocial behaviour in town centres remains a concern for residents and businesses.

Issued: 7 Apr 2026

Status Update

In response to these concerns, Town Team officers are carrying out regular high-visibility foot patrols in town centres to deter antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to the public. Officers actively engage with residents and businesses to identify emerging issues and respond swiftly to reports.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team is also engaging positively with young people through the Teenage Kicks Project, led by PC McNamara and PC Glenn Braden, providing structured activities and opportunities to reduce antisocial behaviour and promote positive relationships with the police. In addition, officers work closely with local schools, youth services, and partner agencies to identify at-risk individuals early and support preventative interventions. This partnership-based approach helps address underlying causes of antisocial behaviour while maintaining safety and confidence within Uttlesford’s towns.

Speeding vehicles remain a key concern for residents across Uttlesford, particularly in rural villages and residential areas.

Issued: 7 Apr 2026

Status Update

In response to these concerns, the Braintree & Uttlesford Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to support Community Speed Watch groups across the district, working in partnership with local volunteers to raise awareness and educate drivers. Officers coordinate speed checks and enforcement activity in locations where residents have reported ongoing issues, using intelligence and community feedback to identify priority areas. Where appropriate, enforcement action is taken against motorists exceeding the speed limit, alongside engagement and preventative measures aimed at reducing repeat offending.

Actioned: 7 Apr 2026

Rural crime, including hare coursing and fly-tipping, continues to have a significant impact on Uttlesford’s rural communities, landowners, and farmers. These offences cause damage to land and wildlife, financial loss, environmental harm, and can leave residents feeling isolated and vulnerable.

Issued: 7 Apr 2026

Status Update

In response to these concerns, the Braintree & Uttlesford Neighbourhood Policing Team has increased its focus on rural crime through targeted patrols which are intelligence-led. Officers are working closely with local farmers, landowners, parish councils, and partner agencies to identify emerging issues and share information effectively.
As part of this engagement, officers are visiting farms and rural landowners to deliver DNA property marking kits and provide tailored crime prevention advice. These visits aim to deter offending, improve traceability of stolen property, and strengthen confidence among rural businesses and residents.
