Local Priorities

Due to the season, there has been a noticeable increase in fish Poaching on the River Kennet, especially in Upper Eddington, Lower Denford and the War Memorial in Hungerford. The poaching is being carried out by individuals who do not have fishing licence or a permit to fish on the river.

Status Update

Officers have continued to carry out Poaching Ops at well known Hotspots and engaged with local River Keepers in relation to the issue. We have also been proactively speaking with youths in the fishing community to educate on where to fish legally and responsibly .

There has been an increase in concern around Rogue Traders and scammers in the Cold Ash area, in the residential roads leading off Cold Ash Hill. - Residents have raised concern that there has been an increase in cold callers and Rouge Traders. Worries that the vulnerable are being targeted and scammed.

Status Update

This ongoing priority has been a focus for the PCSOs not only in the Cold Ash area, but the wider area of Bucklebury and Downlands. PCSO Bremner and PCSO Joyce have been conducting home visits to those targeted and at risk of being targeted to engage and pass on safety advice and how to keep safe.

There has been an increase in illegal off roading, whereby by 4x4 are driving on byways which are closed to vehicles. This is a particular issues on Churn Road byway in Compton

Status Update

PCSO Smith has been proactively patrolling the byways and Hotspots in and around Compton, to target the behaviour. He has also been speaking with youths and other users of off road bikes to inform and educate them around the legislation and where they are restricted from riding.
