Local Priorities

Issue:
Anti social behaviour

You said:
This is a priority for the next 3 months, based on resident feedback, crime data, and ongoing local concerns.

Issued: 1 May 2026

Status Update

We will:
Deal robustly with people committing anti-social behaviour, making use of available legislation to divert offenders and prevent harm.
Ensure officers are visible in areas of heightened concern.

We did:

May update - We have continued to work with partner agencies to deal with anti social behaviour across the area. We have also been taking statements and building evidence for a number of ongoing cases, where we should be in a position to issue Community Protection Notices imminently, as a result of non-compliance with previously issued Community Protection Warning Notices.

Issue:
Road Safety

You said:
This is a priority for the next 3 months, based on resident feedback, crime data, and ongoing local concerns.

Issued: 1 May 2026

Status Update

We will:
Endeavour to tackle road safety concerns, by continuing to deal robustly with traffic offences, like insurance, license, seatbelt and mobile phone offences.
Hold regular enforcement and monitoring days, making use of newly acquired speed enforcement laser, to tackle speed and other moving traffic offences.
Continue to enforce obstruction offences, in particular those relating to white zigzags adjoining pedestrian crossings.

We did:

May update - We have conducted several speed enforcement sessions around the St. John's area, with the overwhelming majority of drivers travelling well below the posted speed limits. However we understand that standing next to the road in a hi-vis jacket definitely can have that affect. We will continue to monitor and enforce where appropriate.
We have also issued a number of traffic reports for zigzag parking offences and given out plenty of advice to motorists to help keep the highways safe.

Issue:
Drug Taking

You said:
This is a priority for the next 3 months, based on resident feedback, crime data, and ongoing local concerns.

Issued: 1 May 2026

Status Update

We will:
Work with our communities to continue to identify sources of drug supply within the area, conducting high visibility patrols to tackle and disrupt drug dealing.
Conduct high visibility patrols in areas identified by the public, as being regularly used for drug taking.
Gather intelligence and submit to relevant departments, work with partner agencies, apply and execute warrants where applicable.

We did :

May update - We have been working with members of our community and partner agencies to try and divert from drug use and the criminality that is often linked to this. This is ongoing work, however showing some signs of success already. This work also includes evidence gathering and development to support enforcement activity across the city.
