Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in the City Centre

Status Update
We remain focussed on reducing ASB in the city centre , officers continue to tackle antisocial behaviour across the district in partnership with stakeholders and agencies.
Youth Justice Intervention and ASB Prevention - North Wales Police continues to strengthen early intervention activity in Wrexham City through a dedicated PCSO resource at Youth Justice. The role focuses specifically on ASB related issues and emerging youth related demand, working proactively alongside Youth Justice Service staff within the community. This joint approach enables effective diversion opportunities, targeted engagement with at risk young people, and improved information sharing to prevent escalation
Op Lex – Nighttime Economy - increasing high visibility patrols on Friday and Saturday nights to support the night time economy. This enhanced presence helps prevent disorder, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and provide reassurance to residents, workers, and visitors.
Licensing Partnership with Wrexham Council - Neighbourhood officers maintain a strong collaborative relationship with Wrexham Council Licensing, conducting regular licensing checks within the city centre’s nighttime economy. These visits ensure compliance, raise standards of safety, and address concerns early by supporting both premises’ staff and the wider community.

Reducing and managing retail crime in the City Centre.

Wrexham City Neighbourhood Teams are still achieving the highest performance around retail crime. This does not only affect retailers but also the staff that witness and endure the offenders behaviours.
Op Blizzard, We now have a dedicated retail crime Team within the district which as seen positive outcomes by way of prosecutions and community resolutions. The positive outcomes have increased by 20% since October 2025. In December alone,80 shoplifting offences were recorded, of which 82.1% have been resulted in a positive outcome.
During the operation we have successfully applied for Restraining orders and Criminal behaviour orders to target prolific offenders , bring the combined total of current orders to 20.
This is not only about prosecuting offenders, as Officers and Checkpoint Cymru staff have been working in partnership by conducting pro-active outreach across Wrexham City Centre. This involved engaging directly with individuals who may be at risk of offending or experiencing vulnerabilities, offering tailored intervention pathways and support services to reduce repeat demand and improve outcomes.

Wrexham City Neighbourhood Teams remain focused on safeguarding, especially around the prevention of Violence against Women and Children
"Own the Night" initiative encouraging Women to Feel Safer While Running in the City Centre. North Wales Police supports this initiative aimed at improving women’s safety while exercising in and around Wrexham City Centre. Officers, including the City District Inspector, have and continue to participate in the weekly organised runs, demonstrating solidarity and increasing visible reassurance for women who may feel vulnerable when running alone. This joint presence helps build confidence, promotes safer routes, and fosters positive relationships between officers and the running community.
Anti Spiking Week- North Wales Police delivered focused engagement with licensed premises during Anti Spiking Week, supported by officers from the city centre team. Activity included crime prevention advice, awareness raising, staff engagement, and promotion of safeguarding messages to help reduce vulnerability and improve safety across the night time economy.
Our neighbourhood Policing Teams will continue our efforts during the Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week February 2–8, 2026 VAWG Initiatives – To include the awareness of VAWG via local businesses to include Taxi offices/drivers, hairdressers and beauty salons.
