Local Priorities

Ilkley Ward Area

  1. Tackling anti-social behaviour around Riverside Gardens and surrounding areas during periods of hot weather through proactive patrols and the use of ASB sanctions and legislation to target repeat offenders.
     
  2. Reducing thefts from local shops and supermarkets through increased foot patrols, proactive suspect enquiries and partnership work with Ilkley BID and local businesses.

Status Update

  1. Hotspot areas patrolled during periods of hot weather. Partnership meetings ongoing with Bradford Council to plan for the busier summer months and upcoming community events.
     
  2. Ilkley centre officer PC Smallshaw now working full time on foot in the town centre, with a priority of tackling shop thefts. More arrests have been made in relation to shoplifting, the majority of the offenders have travelled to the area to commit the thefts.

Keighley West Ward Area

  1. Tackling anti-social driving and speeding across the ward area, particularly through Laycock village and Braithwaite Road, through traffic enforcement in conjunction with Op Shipdon.
     
  2. Tackling anti-social use of motorbikes and electric bikes around the Bracken Bank and Braithwaite estates and surrounding areas.
     
  3. Reducing anti-social behaviour in Guard House and Braithwaite, particularly around the Rainbow Centre, via diversion work with first-time offenders and the use of pro-active ASB sanctions and legislation to target repeat offenders.

Status Update

  1. PCSOs have conducted regular community speed watches, including the speeding hotspots on West Lane, Fell Lane and Laycock Lane/Braithwaite Road. Warning letters sent to drivers recorded as driving over the speed limit. Police officers conduct regular speeding enforcement as part of our Keighley speeding operation Op Shipdon, resulting in numerous drivers reported for traffic offences and vehicles seized. 
     
  2. Ongoing joint operations with the Operation Steerside off-road bikes team have resulted in several nuisance bikes being seized and owners given formal warnings over recent weeks. Patrols will be increasing as we move towards the summer months.
     
  3. Thirteen ASB warning letters and one Acceptable Behaviour Contract served to ASB perpetrators over recent weeks. Our Early Help and Youth Justice teams are working with several juveniles and their families to deter them from further offending.

Keighley East Ward Area

  1. To target anti-social vehicle use, speeding and inconsiderate parking across the ward. We have increased patrols in the areas and issue penalty notices to any vehicle parked causing an obstruction and conduct speed checks.  We work in partnership with our wardens to tackle these issues.
     
  2. To prioritise the violence against women and girls campaign. We listen to concerns raised by women and girls and create safer spaces in public, private and on-line.

  1. Local PCSOs have been briefed to deal robustly with vehicles causing obstructions. Also ongoing speed checks in areas of speeding hotspots.
     
  2. As well as VAWG information available and discussed at various contact points around the area, we are analysing figures and working with partners to identify areas of concern in order to improve safely in our ward area.

  1. Targeting anti-social behaviour in Worth Valley.
     
  2. To target rural crime to keep communities safe.
     
  3. Tackling speeding and vehicle-related anti-social behaviour across the Worth Valley Ward.

Status Update

  1. Increasing patrols in hotspot areas, working with residents, businesses, and the council, and putting preventive measures in place like better lighting and surveillance. We’re also running community engagement events and encouraging people to report ASB so we can make the area safer and more welcoming.
     
  2. Increasing patrols, working with farmers and residents, and using technology to prevent theft, vandalism, and illegal hunting.
     
  3. Our team is running targeted operations with partners like Operation Steerside, using speed checks, increased patrols, and enforcement in hotspot areas. We’re also engaging with the community to raise awareness and encourage reporting, while working with the council and traffic officers to improve road safety.

Craven Ward Area

  1. Deal with on-going reports of begging outside the co-op and other retail premises in the Silsden area. 
     
  2. To address the issues of parking opposite solid white lines on Keighley Road.
     
  3. To tackle speeding and anti-social vehicle use, in particular those vehicles/individuals suspected to be bringing drugs into the area.

Status Update

  1. Work with the community developing and taking action on reports and intelligence received.
     
  2. Working in conjunction with our wardens and parking services.
     
  3. We will do this by increasing proactive NPT patrols during key times of day and stopping vehicles suspected to be involved in the supply of drugs. We will also enlist the support of Operation Steerside, the Bradford District Antisocial Vehicle Team, as well as dedicated Roads Policing Officers. We will use our powers of stop and search as well as the District-wide Public Space Protection Order.
