If the scam is reported to Report Fraud (previously Action Fraud) this will routinely get sent through to police. A questionnaire is then completed with the victim which helps access the impact on the victim through general questions. Scam prevention is given to the victim along with any suitable words of advice. If the victim consents, the team will also share info with Victims First and Trading Standards for further safeguarding/support. If there are any details about the scammers such as company name, details etc, this will be passed onto Trading Standards for intelligence for further work their end.
Trading Standards will possibly make the neighbourhood policing team aware of reports of Rogue Traders within the area.
