Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

In addition, a number of e‑scooters being used illegally within the ward have been stopped and confiscated to help improve safety and reduce nuisance behaviour.

E-scooters.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

Illegal use of e‑scooters continues to be an ongoing issue in the West Bay ward. Officers are taking action where possible, including seizing e‑scooters and issuing traffic offence reports.

Residents are encouraged to keep reporting concerns, including at community engagement events. This information helps officers target patrols more effectively.

There has also been an increase in the use of electric motorcycles that are uninsured, unlicensed or unregistered. While resources are limited, officers are working to identify those responsible. Where appropriate, Section 59 warnings under the Police Reform Act are being issued. A Section 59 warning is given when a vehicle is used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance, and it allows police to seize the vehicle if the behaviour continues.

This work aims to reduce antisocial riding and improve safety for everyone in the ward.
