Drug dealing.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

We have carried out plain‑clothes patrols in identified hotspot areas to tackle drug‑related activity. During this work, officers stopped and engaged with people linked to drug use and supply, and submitted intelligence to support further action.

This approach has led directly to arrests, with offenders later prosecuted based on the evidence gathered. Police presence has also been increased in the area to disrupt drug taking and dealing, reassure residents and prevent further harm.

Information gathered has been shared with proactive teams to support ongoing enforcement and partnership work.

If you have information about drug‑related activity in your area, please contact PC 13512 Ruth Miles.

Alcohol.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

We have carried out regular high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols in the town centre to tackle alcohol‑related antisocial behaviour, focusing on areas highlighted by community reports.

Officers are enforcing the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which allows police to require people to hand over alcohol in designated areas to prevent nuisance and disorder. Action has been taken against those who fail to comply.

Where problems persist, Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices have been issued. These are formal steps that require individuals to stop behaviour that is having a negative impact on others and help prevent further disorder.

If you have information about alcohol‑related antisocial behaviour, please contact PC 13512 Ruth Miles.
