Status Update

Over the past few months New Mills, Hayfield and Birch Vale SNT have seen several electric bikes and off-road motorbikes riding around New Mills. We have been doing targeted patrols around areas of reported use of E-Bikes and off-road motorbikes. If you see any suspicious activity involving individuals riding these bikes, please report it to the police using 101 or online.
Speeding is a big concern in all parts of the local area, but certain locations have been highlighted by residents where we have started to do enforcement with the assistance from the forces Road Safety Team (CREST). Residents have already set up Community Speed watch schemes which are running well and would encourage anyone who is interested in setting up a scheme in their area to email the Speed Watch team. [email protected]. We would encourage anyone who is wanting to report illegal parking to the councils - The Civil Parking Enforcement Team are responsible for most parking offences like double yellow lines. You can do this by emailing [email protected].
Burglaries and Thefts tend to increase as the evenings become darker but we cant be complacent in the summer months . In response, we will be reminding residents of key crime prevention measures and encouraging the reporting of any suspicious activity. We will also be increased our high visible patrols, offering home security advice, burglary follow ups and bike and property marking events in the aim to stop people becoming repeat victims of crime. If a crime is in progress, please call 999 immediately. We appreciate the continued support of our community and remain committed to working together to keep New Mills safe.
