Status Update

Traffic and Road Safety 

  • Increased patrols in hotspot areas under Operation Trimburg which has resulted in multiple seizures and Traffic Offence Reports being issued, these patrols will continue. 
  • Acting on community intelligence, NPT Officers have recovered several vehicles that were abandoned, involved in crime, uninsured, or reported stolen and subsequently found.
  • Traffic days of action were carried out in Ravensthorpe, with speed enforcement checks conducted on Brewery Lane and Hopton Lane.
  • Ongoing engagement has taken place with persistent venues linked to high powered sports vehicles, focusing on deterrence and compliance.
  • Multiple vehicles were seized in Navigation Gardens, linked to drug related activity. Investigations remain ongoing.

     

Anti-Social Behaviour  

  • Partnered with Kirklees Youth Outreach to signpost positive activities.
  • Ward officers have continued to attend community meetings for reassurance.
  • High visibility patrols were conducted across Lowlands Road (Mirfield), Centenary Square (Dewsbury South), Ravensthorpe, and Dewsbury Moor as part of Operation Tarlake to tackle ASB crimes and nuisance behaviours. Hotspots identified across the district and in partnership with safer Kirklees patrols have been conducted to provide engagement and education through youth provisions.
  • Additional patrols were deployed in Kitson Hill (Mirfield) and Mirfield Town Centre in response to an increase in criminal damage incidents.

     

Drug Activity

  • High visibility patrols took place in Dewsbury West, covering Oxford Road, Reservoirs Street, and Brunswick Street.
  • Disruption visits were carried out across the locality to those at risk, alongside referrals for young people identified as being at risk of County Lines.
  • Five warrants have been successfully executed across Dewsbury during the last quarter, all generated from community intelligence submissions.

     

Shop Theft

  • Town Centre Teams are working with business owners to share intelligence and take enforcement action.
  • Our dedicated Town Centre Team are increasing patrols and visibility to deter crime, provide reassurance to businesses, and ensure the public feel safe.
  • Officers continue to revisit reported shop thefts promptly to secure CCTV evidence and identify suspects at the earliest opportunity.
  • Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices have been issued to repeat demand nominals involved in begging outside retail premises.
  • Contact points are being actively utilised to provide crime prevention advice and create opportunities for face to face engagement between officers and the community.
