Key areas are being patrolled on a regular basis and officers are allocating time to target the issue committed to showing police awareness, presence and gain experience in best approach. Recent ASB surveys have shown strong public concern for the issue so NHPT time is being allocated accordingly, to dedicated duties for the issues involving both the Caversham team and resources from other areas.

Fast time identification of suspects for shoplifting and working closely with stores to identify offenders and gather evidence as quickly as possible for early arrests. Conducting plain clothes patrols and monitoring of locations at key times to catch offenders actively stealing. Liaising with Retail Crime Time and prioritising offenders to ensure patterns of offending are dealt with and aggressive or violent offenders are identified early on and arrested.

NHPT are monitoring reports for incidents of interest or patterns of offending and monitoring known offenders for like offences such as shoplifting or theft from motor vehicles. Officers are taking ownership of investigations wherever possible and liaising with victims to ensure best possible service is delivered, golden hour enquiries are completed and evidence obtained is maximised. Officers are liaising with other departments, community leaders and staff and management to identify offenders and prioritise persistent suspects.
