Community concerns regarding motorcycle disorder (MCD) and electric motorbikes

Issued: 28 Jan 2026

Status Update

Operation Capio is our force's response to motorcycle disorder. Hotspot areas are identified through public and partner agency meetings, making sure we are responding to the proble, areas you have flagged to us. We continue to seize vehicles involved in motorcycle disorder and we are actively working with partners to undertake tenancy action against those causing disorder. Our operations have included use of drones, plain clothes officers and a multi-agency approach including South Tyneside Council staff. We have reviewed our resourcing to tackle these issues and have set up a new neighbourhood support team, who will support with reducing motorcycle disorder.
