Dangerous use of e-bikes and e-scooters on Reading Road and surrounding streets.

Issued: 1 May 2026

Status Update

The Winnersh Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to receive reports of e-bikes and e-scooters being ridden in a dangerous manner around Reading Road Station and surrounding streets. This includes use on footpaths, open spaces and roadways, as well as other road traffic offences.

It remains illegal to use privately owned e-scooters on public roads or pathways. Thames Valley Police will take robust action, including the seizure of these vehicles being used unlawfully. Targeted operations are ongoing, alongside joint work with the local authority, retailers and local schools to help address this issue.

Continued operations have seen a number of conveyances seized and destroyed. Further work is being undertaken with local schools to ensure that education around lawful and safe use of E-conveyances are delivered to those within the community.
