Status Update

  • Increased tasking in key areas by both PC’s and PCSO’s through specific targeted patrols based on demand and public use. Specific and increased patrols to show presence and gather intelligence on suspects involved in retail theft and the selling of stolen goods. 
  • Utilised days of action with targeted plain clothes operations within the city centre (Operation Spiralside) and other proactive operations relating to retail theft linking in with businesses for engagement
  • Partnership working with ASB team, Bradford BID and other local businesses to assist Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) applications and enforcement continues.
  • We've taken positive action where we can address problems live time and where possible provide conditions to safeguard businesses in the city centre.
  • Ensure a larger contingency of officers are available for all this work in and around the city centre with the summer surge uplift. City PCSOs conducted multiple engagement events (Contact Points) across Bradford City Centre tackling issues including shop theft, fraud, anti-social behaviour (ASB), keeping safe. These events attracted both businesses and members of the public, delivering positive engagement, education on police initiatives, and strengthening partnerships through open free flowing conversations. Status Update

  • Council Partnerships work in Centenary Square.
  • High visibility patrols Bradford City centre  
  • Op Nocturnal - Night-time economy (NTE) safety and Violence against women and girls (VAWG), tackling alcohol-related disorder, spiking, and violence against women and girls.
  • City Centre Operational Group - Chaired by Police Inspector, 6 weekly planning for events / threats / hotspot
     

What we will do:  

  • Continue the great work with our partners to keep the high level of service for the evening and night-time economy.
  • Adapt the approach we have as we move into darker nights.
  • We will do this by building stronger relation with the NTE Businesses, Increased hotspot patrolling, working with Bradford City Council, Licensing and Taxi Licencing.
  • Maintain accreditation with PURPLE FLAG STATUS for the City, by continuing our partnership work.
  • Support Partnership operation – OP Clearway with The Broadway and theatres.

Status Update

We Did: 

  • Increased tasking in key areas by both PC’s and PCSO’s through specific targeted patrols based on demand and public use.
  • Use of joint patrols using neighbourhood wardens, street cleansing, travel hubs, ASB officers and licensing setting the tone for the city as a safer place.
  • Partnership working with Homeless Outreach Partnership and safer spaces to assist homeless people to arrange housing and rehabilitation.
  • Take positive action where we can address problems live time and where possible provide conditions to safeguard the public coming to use the city centre. This includes use of the knife pole (Operation Saintburg) and other proactive operations relating to drugs supply and e-bike use.  
  • We have utilised the facial recognition van within the city which assisted in the arrest of multiple offences including domestic violence, resisting arrest, breaching a restraining order and breaching the requirement of a drug intervention programme. The van will return to the City throughout May.
