Criminal damage.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

We are aware of an increase in reports involving groups of young people using catapults in the local area. Catapults have been identified as a wider national issue, as they can be used to cause damage to property or harm wildlife.

While we await clearer national legislation around carrying catapults in public places, officers continue to patrol areas of concern. We are also raising awareness through local schools and, where appropriate, using educational workbooks with young people found in possession of catapults to explain the risks and consequences of this behaviour.

Road safety issues.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

We continue to listen to concerns raised by residents about road traffic issues. Information provided has led to vehicles being seized for having no valid tax or insurance.

High‑visibility patrols on local roads have also resulted in Traffic Offence Reports being issued for offences such as speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and driving without insurance.
