We have seen a rise in wildlife crimes mainly involving animals (hare coursing, sheep worrying) but also thefts from farms. The local NPT are increasing patrols in rural areas and liaising with landowners and the Police Rural Crime Team.

We have seen an increase in the number of burglaries across the North Somerset region, where the primary target is to obtain keys for high end vehicles.
If you have a vehicle that cannot be stored in a garage or behind a barrier and its parked on your driveway or in the street then the following advice should be followed to reduce the risk of your vehicle being stolen.
- Don’t keep any valuables on view in the vehicle overnight. If you do need to keep items in the vehicle, put them in the boot.
- Keep your car keys upstairs, ideally in the room you are sleeping in. Criminals don’t want to venture upstairs as this increases the risk of a confrontation with the occupants.
- If you are using a keyless remote, keep in in a ‘faraday pouch’ so it cannot be copied.
- If you see anyone hanging around your or your neighbours property, especially if they are taking an interest in vehicles, ring the police on 101 straight away to report it.
- If you don’t have external lighting or cameras, consider having them installed, making sure you comply with regulations on their use.
