Improve engagement events and opportunities for the rural communities to ensure voices are heard and concerns raised.

Issued: 20 Aug 2025

Status Update

We attended the Eccleshall Show at the weekend and spent some valuable time engaging with our rural communities, building stronger relationships with other partners at the events and building up a wider network of community contacts that can be shared and fed back into the community. The rural, wildlife and heritage teams will be supporting the national rural crime week of action over the coming weeks and will be advertising various events.

Last year, issues were raised with the MOD (Ministry of Defence) Swynnerton base and the Afghan families that are being resettled in the wider communities. This has been an ongoing priority for us and something we continue to address to improve community relations.

Issued: 1 Jun 2025

Status Update

Several community meetings have been held to raise awareness and provide information to the communities and our officers have been working closely with the community, Parish Council, and staff at the base to improve relationships. Since this problem was raised, most families have now left the base and have gone to start life within their new communities. We will continue to work with MOD for the remaining families and prepare for any future programmes that may come to the area.
