Violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

Officers have placed Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) at the centre of their work in local communities. We have increased high‑visibility patrols, especially during busy periods such as evenings and weekends when more people are out and about. This includes a strong focus on the night‑time economy, which refers to places like pubs, bars, restaurants and late‑night venues where people gather after dark.

Officers are working closely with businesses, security staff and partner agencies to prevent and detect crime. We have carried out a number of community engagement events and held open and honest conversations with residents about safety, listening carefully to any concerns raised.

We continue to work proactively to achieve positive outcomes for reports made to us, making sure that anyone affected by these crimes feels supported and safeguarded.
