Status Update

With the sunshine comes an increase in calls to the police and Summertime events. Last month we helped organisers with their Eid events. The team also helped with Pub in the Park and Frogfest in the Town Centre. All were well attended and everyone was well behaved.
One of our days of actions saw us dealing with suspected gang related violence, this started by Morrisons where there were reports of youths in balaclavas chasing people. The gang was stopped and a section 34 dispersal was put in place to move people from the area. A further incident in Cressex resulted in two people being arrested for attacking a youth with a weapon. Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt.
Whilst conducting speeding checks, the team were called away to search for a male exposing himself on Hughenden Park. The male was found and arrested and has since been bailed. Unfortunately, recent changes in legislation prevented us from being able to remand him. He has been given strict bail conditions and we will monitor.
I would say that one of the biggest complaints I receive is over poor and inconsiderate parking. I suspect that this is a common issue for a great deal of people, with house having more and more cars, a lack of on street parking and more dropped kerbs impacting where people can park.
A repeat case involving a resident who has undiagnosed mental health conditions. Such cases can be difficult as people may not want help and even feel insulted by such an observation. The case escalated into the MH Teams having to become involved.
The team received complaints of ASB behaviour from an address that resulted in us obtaining a partial closure order on Rynn Close. Checks to ensure that those involved in causing the behaviour are not present are being carried out
Last month we worked with our Roads Policing Colleagues to focus on Traffic ASB. This resulted in 3 arrests and 21 vehicles being seized. We are planning more of these types of operations.

Speeding

Issued: 1 Jun 2026

Status Update

The team is working to promote a cultural shift in how speeding is viewed. Much like drink driving, officers want the community to see speeding as a socially unacceptable behaviour. Residents are encouraged to challenge friends and family who drive above the limit—helping to create a collective responsibility for safer roads.

Community Speedwatch
To make a real difference around speeding requires a real effort from the community. Now that it is summertime we find that there is a higher uptake for people wanting to get involved in schemes like Community Speed watch. There are a number of benefits which includes: meeting new people, raising awareness of speeding, and improving the safety of your community. The Police and Crime Commissioner is providing free equipment to loan to new groups. I will be looking to see if we can get new schemes set up this year. Visit www.communityspeedwatch.org for more information.

The team will continue to monitor local speeding hotspots and assess where future enforcement should be prioritised, including the potential deployment of the Road Safety Van in high risk areas. This month we did do road checks at Plumer Hill where 7 tickets were given out.

Supporting Enforcement Technology
The area continues to benefit from both fixed speed cameras and mobile safety vans, which act not only as enforcement tools but also as highly visible deterrents to drivers who may otherwise put themselves and others at risk. April’s results across these sites included:
•412 offences recorded by fixed cameras
•651 offences recorded at mobile enforcement sites
These figures highlight the continued need for active speed monitoring across the community.

A Message to the Community
The team urges all road users to consider the real risks associated with speeding. Even small increases in speed can dramatically increase the severity of collisions. Slowing down can save lives and help keep Wycombe West a safer place for everyone.
Speeding—it's not worth the risk.
