Road safety has been a long‑standing priority for residents in Birchington. Our officers regularly carry out speed‑enforcement checks, and PC England is extremely pleased that a Community Speed Watch scheme has now been established in Birchington and is deploying on a regular basis. This issue is raised regularly in Birchington and across Thanet. PC England recently wrote an article for the Birchington Parish Council magazine explaining the law around e‑scooters to increase awareness. Our Child‑Centred Policing Team has also delivered presentations in several local schools, highlighting the law around e‑scooters and the consequences of being caught using one on a road or in a public place.

We will continue to take a robust approach during patrols and will seize any illegal e‑scooters where necessary.
